West Indies Aim to Defend 2016 Trophy
ESPN Caribbean presents exclusive coverage of the 2018 ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup live from New Zealand beginning January 12 at 7:45 p.m. ET. West Indies will seek to defend their first title, won in 2016, as action bowls off on the ESPN Caribbean and ESPN2 Caribbean television networks. All matches can also be streamed live via ESPN Play (www.espnplay.com) — ESPN’s multiscreen live and on-demand broadband service. One-hour highlight programs for each match will also air following play during each Match Day.
West Indies will be led by skipper, Emmanuel Stewart, and will also boast young stars such as Kirstan Kallicharan and Keagan Simmons in the ranks. They will play in Group A alongside the hosts, South Africa and Kenya. Group B consists of last tournament’s beaten finalist, India, as well as Australia, Zimbabwe and Papua New Guinea. Group C has Bangladesh, England, Canada and Namibia while Group D will field Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Ireland and Afghanistan.
The top two from each Group will advance to the knockout stage commencing January 22, with the Grand Final slated for February 2. ESPN’s coverage will be aired from stadiums in Mount Maunganui, Queenstown and Christchurch.
