Philadelphia Eagles lineman Jason Kelce loses a bet and goes bleached blond

NFL, Philadelphia Eagles

PHILADELPHIA -- Never make a bet with someone who has more inside information than you do.

That's the lesson Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce learned the hard way, and he's got the bleached follicles to show for it.

A few weeks before training camp, Kelce bet tight end Zach Ertz that Ertz would not be on the team Week 1. If he was wrong, he would dye his hair blond to match Ertz's look.

He was wrong.

"I was betting that he was going to get traded -- because I thought he was gonna get traded!" Kelce said.

Shouldn't Ertz have had a better idea of whether he was going to be dealt?

"I think he might have known at that point," Kelce said, "which is why I'm sitting here with this hair."

In Kelce's defense, Ertz had been the subject of trade talks for months and there were multiple times when a trade appeared very close.

But general manager Howie Roseman never made the deal. Maybe he's just a huge fan of Guy Fieri and wanted a pair of look-alikes on his roster.

Kelce wouldn't divulge what Ertz would have done had he lost the bet. No matter. He didn't.

"My wife is definitely not a fan," Kelce said. "It's a bet I'm happy to lose. I'm not happy with the hair, but I'm happy I lost the bet."

Kelce does not have to keep the hair blond all season -- that wasn't part of the agreement -- but acknowledged if the 1-0 Eagles keep winning, "it's going to be hard to go back to brown."
