Los Angeles Rams running back Darrell Henderson, recovering from rib injury, won't play Sunday

Los Angeles Rams running back Darrell Henderson, will not play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Coach Sean McVay said Friday that Henderson's availability would depend on pain tolerance after hurting his ribs on the first play of the fourth quarter in the Rams' 27-24 win at the Indianapolis Colts last weekend.

About an hour before kickoff, the Rams made it official, listing Henderson on their rundown of inactives, along with quarterback Bryce Perkins, safety JuJu Hughes, defensive back J.R. Reed, offensive lineman Alaric Jackson, tight end Brycen Hopkins and defensive lineman Bobby Brown III.

Defensive back Tyler Hall and running back Buddy Howell are both active for Los Angeles after being elevated from the practice squad Saturday.

Last week, Sony Michel had 10 carries for 46 yards in relief, and he is in line to start against Tampa Bay. Rookie Jake Funk, a seventh-round draft pick, also could be on tap for an expanded role.

"We've got contingency plans in place. And if that's the case, then those other guys will be asked to step up," McVay said Friday.

Henderson didn't not practice this week. He has 123 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 29 carries through two games, along with four receptions for 46 yards.
