Sources: Metarama Gaming + Music Festival cancelled

Metarama Gaming + Music Festival, scheduled to take place Oct. 19-20 in Las Vegas and headlined by famous livestreamer Tyler "Ninja" Blevins and music producer Marshmello, has been canceled, sources familiar with the decision told ESPN.

The cancellation comes after lackluster ticket sales and struggle to secure sponsorship for the festival, according to sources. The festival notified influencers on its lineup earlier this week, but tickets -- ranging from $140 to $860 for various two-day passes -- still remain for sale on the event's website. Representatives for Metarama did not respond to request for comment.

Over 50 performances were featured on the festival flyer, including ones from Marshmello, Ninja, Logic, Snoop Dogg, Benjamin "DrLupo" Lupo, Imane "Pokimane" Anys and Diesel, the music alter ego of Shaquille O'Neal. Four Overwatch League teams -- the Philadelphia Fusion, Seoul Dynasty, Guangzhou Charge and San Francisco Shock -- were set to compete in exhibition matches, with another match pitting League of Legends Pros vs. Joes.

The event also boasted Metarama Masters, a pro-am tournament featuring some of the event's celebrity gaming and music talent.

The festival was announced in June by Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza curators C3 Presents and another company, Esports Hospitality Concepts, whose co-founder oversees operations of the Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino. Metarama was scheduled to take place at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds.
