ESPN Deportes unveils a new This is SportsCenter campaign featuring Lineal Middleweight World Champion Canelo Álvarez and undefeated WBC, WBA and IBO Middleweight World Champion Gennady Golovkin (GGG) in anticipation of their upcoming rematch scheduled for Saturday, September 15. The spot will debut on the 11 p.m. ET edition of SportsCenter on ESPN Deportes (U.S.) and on ESPN throughout Mexico and Central America. 

Titled “Shared Cube,” the commercial mirrors Canelo and GGG’s rivalry as their boxing instincts are triggered in an ESPN office setting by the ding of a microwave.  The commercial also features legendary boxer, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De la Hoya, alongside ESPN Deportes’ SportsCenter anchor Jorge Eduardo Sánchez. In addition, ESPN.Com will feature a slightly modified English-language version of the commercial featuring SportsCenter anchor Stan Verrett.

“As soon I heard the sound of the microwave, I felt like it was the sound of the ring bell. My mind immediately responded and I told myself: There is nothing more to say here. I’m going to knock him out,” said Canelo.

Added Golovkin: “After pounding the keyboard at the ESPN offices, I’m ready to pound Canelo again on September 15 at T-Mobile Arena.”

The commercial was created in-house by ESPN Deportes’ marketing team and was shot at ESPN studios in Los Angeles.

ESPN Deportes presenta un nuevo comercial de Esto es SportsCenter con el titular mundial mediano lineal Canelo Álvarez (49-1-2, 34 nocáuts) y “GGG” Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 nocáuts) invicto campeón mundial mediano CMB, AMB e IBO, en anticipación a la pelea revancha que se realizará el sábado 15 de septiembre. El spot hará su debut en ESPN Deportes en Estados Unidos y en ESPN en México y Centro América el lunes 3 de septiembre.

Bajo el título “Shared Cube”, el comercial refleja la rivalidad de Canelo y GGG cuando se despiertan sus instintos de box en una oficina de ESPN por el sonido de un horno de microondas. El comercial también presenta a Óscar de la Hoya, legendario boxeador, presidente y Jefe Ejecutivo de Golden Boy Promotions, junto con Jorge Eduardo Sánchez, conductor de SportsCenter de ESPN Deportes.

“Nos complace haber podido juntar a estos dos campeones del box para un comercial de Esto es SportsCenter en anticipación de esta revancha que tanto hemos esperado”, expresó Michelle Bella, vicepresidente de ventas y marketing, ESPN Deportes. “La campaña de Esto es SportsCenter tiene un lugar especial en los corazones de los fans y nos produce una gran satisfacción traer ese mismo humor a nuestra creatividad de marketing para ESPN Deportes.”

“En cuanto escuché el sonido del microondas sentí que era el tañido de la campana y mi mente respondió de inmediato y me dije: aquí no hay nada más que hablar. Voy a salir a noquear a Golovkin”, comentó Canelo.

Golovkin por su parte manifestó: “Después de golpear el teclado en las oficinas de ESPN, estoy listo para golpear a Canelo [Álvarez] de nuevo el 15 de septiembre en el T-Mobile Arena.”

El comercial es de producción interna del equipo de marketing de ESPN Deportes y fue filmado en los estudios de ESPN en Los Ángeles.
