Former Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri is on the shortlist for the Nantes job, according to chairman Waldemar Kita.
The Ligue 1 club are currently on the lookout for a new coach following Sergio Conceicao's departure for Porto earlier this week.
And Nantes chief Kita says Ranieri, who has also been linked with the Crystal Palace job, is among a number of candidates the club are looking at, which does not include Southampton manager Claude Puel
"Ranieri may be on the shortlist," Kita told CNews. "I inquired about Puel. He goes to another club.
"Laurent Blanc, no. A Portuguese coach? There is one in the shortlist. There are Frenchmen, I will not reveal their names."
Eight-time French champions Nantes finished seventh in Ligue 1 last season, just outside of a spot in the Europa League.
