SMAAASH Entertainment agreed to acquire Simplicy Esports on Friday, which will effectively take that team public on Nasdaq, the team announced. SMAAASH, which operates various entertainment facilities around virtual reality, gaming and more in India, closed at a value of $2.25 per share prior to the acquisition, with a total market cap of $10.84 million. Simplicity was founded in early 2018 by Memphis Grizzlies and Swansea City A.F.C. minority owner Jed Kaplan. The team now becomes one of few who are owned by public companies, alongside the likes of Madison Square Garden Company-owned Counter Logic Gaming and Comcast-backed Philadelphia Fusion.
