Longhorns CB Foster out with hamstring injury

College Football, Texas Longhorns

Texas nickel cornerback B.J. Foster will miss several weeks with what coach Tom Herman described Monday as a significant hamstring injury.

Foster, a sophomore, suffered the injury late in Saturday's 45-38 loss to LSU. He started six games as a freshman in 2018, recording 45 tackles, including nine for a loss and 2.5 sacks, to go with an interception, two forced fumbles, two quarterback hurries and five pass breakups.

Foster is among the few Texas defenders with starting experience from 2018. Junior Josh Thompson likely will see more playing time during Foster's absence.

Texas (1-1) faces Rice this week at NRG Stadium in Houston before opening Big 12 play by hosting Oklahoma State on Sept. 21.
