Schalke won't add Premier League players amid Danny Rose links - chief

Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel said he is not in the market for Premier League players amid links to a loan for Tottenham Hotspur's Danny Rose but remains hopeful of adding another left-sided player in the coming days.

Heidel told reporters that in the past two weeks, Schalke were offered players from up to 11 clubs in England. However, the players were all deemed too expensive for Schalke, who finished second behind Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich last season.

In addition to Rose, who has also been connected to a move to Paris Saint-Germain, Schalke have been linked with loans for England internationals Danny Drinkwater and Ruben Loftus-Cheek of Chelsea before the transfer window closes on Aug. 31.

"We will not do any more than two transfers and I do not really know if the second one is a possibility," Heidel said at a news conference on Wednesday.

Schalke were previously linked with a move for Bayern left-back Juan Bernat in June, while midfielder Sebastian Rudy, who has been told he can leave Bayern this summer, is also reportedly a target.

"We are currently holding talks about signing a left-sided player," Heidel said. "It is looking good and we are very hopeful of completing this deal."

Schalke finalised the €37 million transfer of Thilo Kehrer to PSG on Thursday, with the defender, 21, signing a five-year deal with his new club.
