Kyrie Irving addresses Kehlani rumors, says focus on basketball

CLEVELAND -- Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving took to Twitter on Wednesday night to talk about the state of his relationship with R&B singer Kehlani, which gained attention on social media earlier this week.

Irving's tweets were subsequently deleted, but Cleveland Sports Talk captured a screen grab.

Irving and Kehlani's relationship was put in the spotlight Monday when PartyNextDoor, a singer signed to Drake's OVO label who dated Kehlani in the past, posted a photo of himself holding Kehlani's hand on his Instagram account with a caption suggesting the pair was back together. The post was quickly deleted.

After initially disabling her account, Kehlani posted a photo of an IV attached to her right arm on Monday night with a caption that read in part, "today I wanted to leave this earth." The post, which was later deleted, also claimed there was no impropriety between her and PartyNextDoor.

While the relationship was relatively short-lived, Kehlani, 20, and Irving, who turned 24 last week, were very public about their affection for each other. She attended a Cavaliers road game in Philadelphia in January, and he wore a sweatshirt from her "Tsunami" clothing brand to a Cavs road game in Houston. They also posted several Instagram videos from their visit together in Los Angeles over All-Star weekend.

Neither Irving nor Kehlani has divulged when their relationship came to an end. Irving has played one game since the speculation started, however, putting up 31 points and eight assists in the Cavs' 106-100 home loss to the Houston Rockets on Tuesday.

LeBron James was asked after the Cavs' shootaround on Thursday morning if he has felt compelled to reach out to Irving.

"He's got my support and he knows it," James said.

Added coach Tyronn Lue: "I just think as a team, we're all just there for him. He's a part of this team and it's our job to make sure he's OK, he's in good hands and just being around his teammates and just being around the guys he competes with every night makes him at ease."
