Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis powered England to a record third PDC World Cup of Darts title after a pulsating final against rivals Scotland on Sunday.

Lewis and Taylor clinched a tense 3-2 victory against PDC world champion Gary Anderson and Peter Wright at Frankfurt's Eissporthalle, to see their names etched on the trophy for the third time in four years.

England took the lead in the first-to-three-points final after Taylor whitewashed Wright 4-0 with a 113.43 average in the opening match, closing out victory with a superb 130 checkout.

However, Anderson levelled proceedings with a 4-1 win against two-time world champion Lewis, only for England to move back ahead after edging a dramatic doubles match 4-3.

Anderson ensured the final would be sent into a deciding fixture with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Taylor, in which the 'Flying Scotsman' averaged 108.

Lewis, though, kept his composure and put in a marvellous performance to beat Wright 4-1 and ensure England would be leaving Germany with the top prize - £25,000 each and a record third World Cup win.

Earlier on Sunday, England saw off Belgian brothers Kim and Ronny Huybrechts 2-0 in the semi-finals, while Scotland needed a doubles decider to beat holders Netherlands - Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld - to advance.
