It's rare for one of the NHL's storied Original Six franchises to undergo a uniform redesign. But it appears the Toronto Maple Leafs have a makeover in the works. Reports indicate that the team will commemorate its centennial with a new uniform set for the 2016-17 season. It would mark the team's first new uniform since 1987 and the first new logo since 1970.
Redesigning a team with such a deep heritage is a tricky challenge. Do you make small, incremental changes or go with something radical? Do you honor the past, look toward the future or both?
You can now answer those questions yourself, because we're challenging Uni Watch readers to redesign the Leafs. And as we've done in the past, we'll feature the best entries here on ESPN.com.
The ground rules are as follows:
Your entry must include a primary logo, full home and road uniforms, a centennial patch design and at least one throwback uniform honoring the Leafs' past. (If you like, you can also include secondary logos, but those aren't required.)
Your designs can be created in any digital or analog medium (Illustrator, Photoshop, crayon, whatever) and can be submitted in any standard digital format (JPG, PDF, TIFF, etc.). You can also create a video presentation and upload it to YouTube if you like.
The files you submit should be named after yourself (PaulLukas.jpg, for example). If you're submitting multiple files, please either number them (PaulLukas1.jpg, PaulLukas2.jpg, etc.) or use some other designation (PaulLukas-homeuni.jpg, PaulLukas-logo.jpg, etc.). Files that don't follow this format will not be considered.
In keeping with long-standing Uni Watch chromatic policy, entries including even a hint of the color purple will not be accepted.
