Bills' Rex Ryan: 'I'm not real fond of New England right now'

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Rex Ryan was irritated by the line of questioning by New England Patriots reporters during a Thursday conference call with the Buffalo Bills' coach, leading him to express some general distaste Friday for his upcoming opponent.

Asked by Buffalo-based reporters specifically about what happened on the conference call, Ryan responded, "I don’t know what you’re talking about. I mean, you know. It’s New England week, man. I don’t know what to tell you. I’m not real fond of New England right now. No, it’s, eh -- it’s just the way it is, man."

Ryan was later asked a question at his Friday news conference in Buffalo about him being too emotional entering the Bills' Week 2 loss to the Patriots that referenced his frustration on the conference call Thursday.

"But no, it’s not even like -- that to me [the conference call] is like, with it, like, you don’t like anything about them right now because that’s the truth," he said. "But we’re a different team in the fact that I know this team a lot better. I know who we are. I think we were kind of a little embarrassed about how things went down. We’re not that team. We want to be a team that prides themselves on playing our game and not getting caught into the other part of it.

"And that’s what we’ll show Monday. I think our team is going to show that, I think we’ll play a lot smarter than we are. We know we can’t beat that team by giving them the type of penalties we gave them. And that’s not what we want to be known for, anyway.”
