Who holds for Dan Bailey?

NEWARK, N.J. -- With the Cowboys announcing punter Mat McBriar will miss Sunday night's game at the New York Giants after getting placed on injured reserve with nerve damage on his left (non-kicking) foot, it creates an issue at holder.

When McBriar had problems holding due to the foot problem, quarterback Tony Romo took over. Romo held for kicker Dan Bailey for a handful of games but McBriar had retaken the spot the last four weeks.

But Romo has a bruised right hand that forced him to be limited in practice this week and it's unknown if the Cowboys will move him back to the holder spot.

Chris Jones, who was called up to replace McBriar on the active roster, has worked with Bailey during practices as the holder.

Special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis and kicking coach Chris Boniol will help coach Jason Garrett make the final decision regarding the holder.

In such a big game, the winner goes to the playoffs, the Cowboys are faced with either keeping Romo as the holder or moving in Jones who hasn't done it in a game this season.

On the season, Bailey has made 31-of-35 field goal attempts, including a stretch where he converted 26 consecutive. He's made five of his last eight kicks.
