Spencer says it could be his last game

IRVING, Texas -- Outside linebacker Anthony Spencer could be in his final days wearing a Dallas Cowboys uniform.

Spencer, a 2007 first-round pick, is in the final year of his deal and if the Cowboys lose to the New York Giants on Sunday night, ending their season, he'll become an unrestricted free agent.

"It could be," Spencer said after Thursday's practice at Valley Ranch. "It's a fact. I really don’t think about it. I play to win and try to get through the season and get to where we want to be at the beginning of the season to now. It hasn’t changed."

The team hasn't approached Spencer or his agent, Roosevelt Barnes, about a new deal. Before the start of the season, the Cowboys extended the contract of cornerback Orlando Scandrick and on Dec. 9 safety Gerald Sensabaugh signed a contract extension.

Cowboys officials value Spencer but will let him test the free agent market before offering him a new deal.

"Whatever is going to happen is going to happen," he said. "Regardless, I'm not worried about it at all."

Spencer said he wants to remain here long-term but can't control the Cowboys' plans.

"Yeah, I've been here, I like it here," Spencer said. "I don’t want to go nowhere else, but I got to do what's best for me and my family."
