Offensive snaps: Ridley leads RBs

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Snaps played by skill-position players on offense in the Patriots' 49-21 win over the Bills, while analyzing what it might mean (as charted in the press box, small margin for error):

TE Rob Gronkowski -- 70 of 70

TE Aaron Hernandez -- 67 of 70

WR Wes Welker -- 57 of 70

RB Stevan Ridley -- 34 of 70

WR Tiquan Underwood -- 26 of 70

WR Chad Ochocinco -- 22 of 70

RB Danny Woodhead -- 17 of 70

RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis -- 16 of 70

WR Deion Branch -- 14 of 70

TE Nate Solder -- 14 of 70

FB Lousaka Polite -- 7 of 70

WR Julian Edelman -- 6 of 70

(Snaps include illegal contact, offensive holding and a two-point conversion. Don't include kneel-downs.)

ANALYSIS: Rookie RB Stevan Ridley played 19 of the first 23 snaps, as the coaching staff tested him with the lead role. He seemed to respond well. ... WR Deion Branch played 8 of the first 11 snaps before missing the next 51 (it's possible his groin tightened up). He returned late on the team's final drive. ... Between No. 2, 3 and 4 WRs Branch, Tiquan Underwood and Chad Ochocinco, they played 62 snaps, were targeted once, and didn't record a catch. That would seem to be somewhat alarming to the coaching staff as Wes Welker was the only receiver to record a catch. ... FB Lousaka Polite's presence changed the way the Patriots handle short-yardage situations, with Polite serving as a lead-blocking fullback instead of offensive lineman Donald Thomas. ... No need to take Rob Gronkowski off the field. He's too valuable as both as a blocker and pass-catcher.
