ANALYSIS: The big surprise was at No. 3 receiver with Chad Ochocinco inactive. Tiquan Underwood and Julian Edelman split the role, with Edelman playing in the hurry-up (3 WR/2 TE) package and Underwood coming on in 1-, 2- and 3-receiver packages. It doesn’t look good for 2010 third-round pick Taylor Price, who was healthy enough to dress, that Underwood – signed this week – played over him in that role. Price didn’t play an offensive snap. … Rookie OT Nate Solder played 14 of his 18 snaps as a TE in the first half, as he was thrust into the right tackle role in the final 30 minutes when Sebastian Vollmer was sidelined with a foot injury. … No offensive snaps for veteran RB Kevin Faulk, just some work on special teams (punt return, hands team on onside kick attempts). … The Patriots ran 21 plays without a running back, as they went with a 3 WR/2 TE package in hurry-up situations. That’s why snaps were down for Danny Woodhead and Faulk. … All of rookie RB Shane Vereen’s snaps came on the final two drives.
