Martin Kaymer caddies for girlfriend

Golf

Martin Kaymer, who withdrew from the Chevron World Challenge earlier this week, showed up Tuesday to caddie for his girlfriend, who is a pre-qualifying school for the Ladies European Tour.

And having the PGA Champion on her bag seemed to help her game.

Kaymer caddied for Allison Micheletti, two days after he won the European Tour money title and then withdrew from the Chevron event, which is hosted by Tiger Woods.

Micheletti shot an opening-round 89 on Monday, but rebounded with a 76 on Tuesday with Kaymer on the bag.

The top 70 players and ties qualify for the Ladies European Tour, the top circuit for women in Europe.

The Chevron World Challenge features 18 men's players ranked in the top 50 in the world. Nick Watney replaced Kaymer.

Last week, Kaymer announced that he won't join the PGA Tour. Instead, he will play in several U.S. events, but said he believes the European Tour is "his home" and he feels "comfortable in Europe."

Kaymer is eligible for a five-year exemption for winning a major.

Micheletti is from Arizona, and Kaymer spent time there before becoming a star.
