Richard Dent to be honorary captain

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Chicago Bears announced Friday that Richard Dent, the franchise's all-time sack leader and MVP of Super Bowl XX, will serve as an honorary captain for Sunday's NFC title game against the Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field.

Dent racked up a franchise-record 124½ sacks in two stints with the Bears during a span of 12 years, and in 1984 produced a single-season record 17½ sacks. Dent recorded eight double-digit sack seasons with the Bears, in addition to leading the team in sacks eight times.

In 15 years in the NFL, Dent earned Super Bowl rings with the Bears and San Francisco 49ers (1994), and finished his career tied for sixth on the NFL's all-time sacks list (137½).
