LaAdrian Waddle has concussion

LONDON -- The Detroit Lions may be without one of their top offensive linemen Sunday against Atlanta.

Starting right tackle LaAdrian Waddle, who missed three games earlier this season with a calf injury, did not practice Wednesday due to a concussion.

It is unclear when Waddle suffered the concussion, as he played throughout the Lions' win over New Orleans on Sunday.

According to Pro Football Focus, Waddle has allowed four quarterback hurries and two sacks of Matthew Stafford this season.

If Waddle can't play, this could be an issue for Detroit. When he was out in September, the Lions used a rotation of rookie Cornelius Lucas and journeyman Garrett Reynolds at right tackle. Combined they allowed three hurries and five sacks of Stafford, according to Pro Football Focus.

Waddle's absence also hurt the cohesiveness of the offensive line, which has been struggling in both run blocking and pass protecting with and without Waddle this season.

The Lions did get some better news too, as wide receiver Calvin Johnson practiced for the first time in two weeks on Wednesday, but only on a limited basis. He was in a jersey but not doing much during the portion of the practice open to the media Wednesday.

Johnson said Tuesday during a Play 60 event that he was starting to feel better. Lions coach Jim Caldwell said Monday that Johnson wouldn't play unless he was healthy.
