Landry was late for flight to finale

Safety LaRon Landry has spoken glowingly of his time with the Jets, but his first and perhaps last season with them ended on a bitter note.

Landry didn't start the season finale in Buffalo because of disciplinary reasons, according to a source. He missed the team bus to the airport the day before the game and was docked playing time. Somehow, he made the flight.

Eric Smith started at safety, as Landry ended up playing only 35 of 58 defensive snaps, easily his lowest playing-time percentage of the season. He sat out for only 25 snaps in the first 15 games combined.

Landry, who signed only a one-year contract with the Jets, will be an unrestricted free agent. He has said he'd like to re-sign with them, but that appears unlikely. The Jets can't use the franchise tag, per a clause in his contract, and they probably wouldn't be able to afford him under tight salary-cap situation.
