Jets interview Lombardi for OC job

Still searching for an offensive coordinator, the Jets interviewed Saints quarterbacks coach Joe Lombardi on Wednesday for the position, according to a league source.

Lombardi, the grandson of the legendary Vince Lombardi, has coached the Saints' quarterbacks for six years and is well-regarded throughout the league. Rex Ryan said he wants to create an attacking offense, and the Saints are known for their aggressive, pass-oriented approach. Naturally, it helps to have Drew Brees.

The Jets have interviewed at least four people for the vacancy -- Lombardi, Stanford coordinator Pep Hamilton, former Ravens coordinator Cam Cameron and former Eagles coordinator Marty Mornhinweg. Tony Sparano was fired after the season.

Former Browns coach Pat Shurmur is interviewing Friday, according to the New York Daily News.

Hamilton is the leading candidate for Colts' coordinator vacancy, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Friday. That makes sense, as Hamilton was Andrew Luck's position coach at Stanford.
