Seth Wescott wins WC event

TELLURIDE, Colo. -- Two-time Olympic champion Seth Wescott won his first World Cup snowboardcross event in four years Friday in a photo finish over Alex Pullin of Australia.

In his second race back since a season-ending knee injury in January, Wescott exchanged leads with Pullin four times in the finals before edging him out at the finish.

Canada's Dominique Maltais defeated teammate Maelle Ricker, the Olympic champion, in the women's race.

Wescott, 36, was considered an underdog going into the final of the Olympics in 2010. He made up a huge deficit over the last half of the race to beat Canada's Mike Robertson for his second straight gold medal.

His win in a blizzard on Friday was his first World Cup victory since December 2008, in Arosa, Switzerland.
