Mutombo saves Earth in 8-bit video game

Dikembe Mutombo hasn’t graced us with his signature finger-waving blocked shot salute since retiring in 2009.

Now, thanks to an 8-bit video game from Old Spice, Mutombo’s fingers are flying once again -- and this time they’re saving the planet.

If you believe in Mayan prophecy, you are well aware that the world is going to end Dec. 21. In “Dikembe Mutombo's 4½ Weeks to Save the World,” the four-time Defensive Player of the Year is here to save us all by advancing through levels in the game, buying us more time on the Mayan calendar.

In this intentionally simple (and kind of hilarious) game, Mutombo embarks on weekly globe-saving missions based on current events in a game that, itself, may be a sign of the coming apocalypse.

Will we get any work done the rest of the day? *Finger wave*
