Muhammad Ali publicist dies at 82

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Tom Kenville, the former Associated Press and New York Times sports writer who served as a publicist for Muhammad Ali, has died. He was 82.

Kenville died Tuesday at Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with cancer, nephew Mark Kenville said Wednesday.

In addition to his sports writing jobs, Kenville was a member of the boxing promotion department at Madison Square Garden, a publicist for Top Rank Boxing, and served as the official scorekeeper for the New York Knicks and Rangers. He was on the Boxing Writers Association of America's board of directors at the time of his death.

Kenville graduated from St. Bonaventure in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Binghamton.
