Johnson says short week won't limit him

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- For most of the season, Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson has had a specific regimen to handle his ailing knees.

With a short week, that plan could have been altered. But Johnson didn't seem concerned about that Tuesday. While he didn't practice for the Lions in their only true workout of the week, he was on the field and was stretching.

And after, he said he'll be fine.

"Nah, I'll be all right," Johnson said. "I'll be all right."

Johnson also said his knee was "getting better."

Johnson missed his only game of the season at Green Bay on Oct. 6, which was when the knee issues really started to sprout up on him. It hasn't really bothered him since, as he has collected 66 catches for 1,198 yards and 11 touchdowns this season.

So it doesn't seem like it'll be an issue for Johnson, although Detroit coach Jim Schwartz said Monday that remained to be seen.

"It will change his regimen but that's no different for Calvin than it is for about a half a dozen other guys that we've had that have been going through the same kind of things," Schwartz said.

"It's just, every team in the NFL now plays a Thursday game. It's just part of this business now is making that turnaround."
