Vitale's preseason All-Americans

It is summertime, baby, but I am still looking ahead to the college hoops season. Sitting here at the Broken Egg, I had some time to think about the crème de la crème for the upcoming campaign.

So let's talk about my third-, fourth- and fifth-team preseason All-Americans. Remember, when I do my preseason teams, I do not include diaper dandies. I want them to prove themselves at the collegiate level first!

There are plenty of talented guards out there. Baylor's LaceDarius Dunn was a legitimate candidate for first- or second-team honors but right now, we aren't sure if his off-court troubles are going to keep him sidelined for the season.

Butler's Shelvin Mack
may be called to do even more now that Gordon Hayward is in the NBA with the Utah Jazz, so he makes the cut for my third-team roster.

Looking at the big men, Arizona's Derrick Williams was one of the best players in the Pac-10 a year ago, and Sean Miller is looking forward to even greater things this season. Williams is joined by the Vols' Scotty Hopson and Chris Wright of Dayton.

Georgetown's Austin Freeman highlights my fourth team along with San Diego State's Kawhi Leonard, who worked on his conditioning this offseason and should continue be a force on the boards.

Look for Syracuse's Kris Joseph to step up and post big numbers for Jimmy Boeheim. He's on the fifth team, along with Klay Thompson, who could put up 20 points per game in Pullman.
