The Fighting Irish are expected to remain in the CFP selection committee’s top 3 when the newest rankings are revealed on ESPN Tuesday at 7 p.m. (see below) and Miami should improve from its No. 10 ranking after defeating No. 13 Virginia Tech in week 10 and other top 10 teams losing their matchups. The winner of this game will further boost its resume as every team in the sport begins the final stretch of their schedule.  College GameDay Built by the Home Depot will televise from the University of Miami campus on Saturday morning (9 a.m. ET)

Heisman Trophy Campaign, Miami’s Resurgence Provide Subplots
In addition the CFP implications, the game is littered with subplots, as Notre Dame running back Josh Adams is in the thick of the Heisman Race, with nearly 1,200 yards rushing and nine touchdowns on the year thus far. Adams’ head coach, Brian Kelly, has the Fighting Irish at 8-1 on the year, after finishing just 4-8 last season. Meanwhile, Hurricanes head coach Mark Richt is in his second year at his alma mater and has them in the national spotlight this deep in the season for the first time in over a decade as one of the college football’s traditional powerhouses continues its resurgence onto the national stage. Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, Tom Rinaldi, and Maria Taylor will have the call of the game from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla.

Hurricanes-Fighting Irish Rivalry Renewed
This weekend will be the Fighting Irish’s first time in Miami since 1989 and just the two schools’ fourth meeting since 1990. In the 1980s, it was one of the most contentious rivalries in the country, which was captured in ESPN’s 30 for 30: Catholics vs. Convicts which debuted last year. The film will be shown on ESPN2 and ESPNU this week in addition to being available on demand, via the ESPN app, starting Wednesday.
