ESPN & ABC Combine To Exclusively Televise the NBA Western Conference Finals: Golden State Warriors vs. San Antonio Spurs

  • Game 1 Sunday on ABC at 3:30 P.M. ET, Rest of Series on ESPN

ESPN and ABC will combine to exclusively televise the 2017 NBA Western Conference Finals – the Golden State Warriors, led by Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant vs. the San Antonio Spurs and Kawhi Leonard – starting this Sunday, May 14, with Game 1 on ABC at 3:30 p.m. ET. The remaining games will air on ESPN. All Western Conference Finals game will be available on ESPN Radio, ESPN Deportes and streamed on WatchESPN and the ESPN app. The Western Conference Finals on ESPN are presented by Verizon Wireless. Commentators

The commentator team of play-by-play voice Mike Breen, analysts Jeff Van Gundy, Mark Jackson and reporter Doris Burke will call the series on ABC and ESPN. This quartet is also the longest-tenured NBA Finals television broadcast team in history. On ESPN Radio, the duo of Marc Kestecher and Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer and analyst Hubie Brown will describe the action. ESPN Radio will also provide national coverage of the Eastern Conference Finals with Adam Amin providing play-by-play with analyst Jon Barry. Viewers can also listen to the ESPN Radio broadcasts on the ESPN app and at ESPNRadio.com.  On ESPN Deportes, the team of Alvaro Martin and Carlos Morales will provide commentary.

NBA Countdown charged by Mountain Dew, ESPN’s NBA pregame show – will travel to the site of the Western Conference Finals throughout the series. It will mark the first Conference Finals event and the first on-site series for the first-year NBA Countdown team of host Michelle Beadle and analysts Jalen Rose and Chauncey Billups. NBA Countdown will generally begin one-hour prior to the tip, with a special start time of 3 p.m. this Sunday on ABC.

ESPN’s daily NBA studio show, The Jump, hosted by Rachel Nichols, will expand to one-hour starting Monday, May 15 and will air Monday through Friday at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN throughout the remainder of the postseason. The Jump will feature analyst and newly-named Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady, and a deep, rotating cast of ESPN NBA analysts, reporters, NBA legends and special guests from the worlds of sports and entertainment. Both NBA Countdown and The Jump are also streamed on WatchESPN and the ESPN app.

 

ESPN will also televise the 2017 NBA Draft Lottery presented by State Farm on Tuesday, May 16, at 8:30 p.m., after NBA Countdown (special 7:30 p.m. start time) and prior to Game 2. Mark Jones will host ESPN’s coverage with analysis provided by Draft expert Jay Bilas and reports by Cassidy Hubbarth. ESPN front office insider Tom Penn will also provide analysis. Hubbarth will conduct interviews with several Lottery team representatives. (For more on Draft Lottery coverage, see below).

ESPN3 will continue to offer a digital, second screen offering throughout pre-game coverage of the Western Conference Finals. Viewers will be able to watch the pre-game warmups, including the layup lines, during the NBA Countdown pre-game show, throughout the series.

On Tuesday, May 16, ESPNLA 710AM will be broadcasting live at Tom’s Urban at LA Live from 3- 7 p.m. PT. Marcellus Wiley and Kelvin Washington will co-host and they’ll be joined by several special guests. The broadcast will focus on the Los Angeles Lakers’ Draft Lottery placement and whether they’ll be among the top three.
