VCU lands Rice sit-out transfer Marcus Evans

Men's College Basketball, VCU Rams, Rice Owls

VCU has landed Rice transfer Marcus Evans, arguably the nation's best available sit-out transfer.

Evans, a 6-foot-2 guard from Chesapeake, Virginia, visited VCU this past weekend and also had Arizona and Miami on his final list. He was coached at Rice by Mike Rhoades, who was hired last month at VCU to replace Will Wade.

"Just feels right," Evans told ESPN. "Being home has always been a dream, and looking forward to finishing what Rhoades, the rest of the staff and I started."

Evans averaged 19.0 points and 3.7 assists as a sophomore this season, after averaging 21.4 points as a freshman. He will have two years of eligibility after sitting out the 2017-18 season due to NCAA transfer regulations.
