Wingo passes NFL Live torch to Nix

On Thursday, Trey Wingo appeared on ESPN’s NFL Live for a final time after serving as the show’s primary host for the last 15 years.

Starting today (1:30 p.m. ET, ESPN), Wendi Nix officially becomes the new lead host. Nix already is a regular on the show; her promotion was announced in August.

In her first day as lead host, Nix will have plenty to discuss as NFL Live recaps last night’s Philadelphia Eagles victory in Super Bowl LII, and she can’t wait to get started.

“NFL Live has been a pivotal part of ESPN’s NFL coverage for the past 15 years and I’m excited to see where we go from here,” said Nix, who originally joined ESPN in 2006. “I’m clearly biased, but I think we’ve got the best crew in the business and I’m honored to be a part of it.”

In the video above, Wingo congratulates his successor and describes why Nix is a perfect fit to be the new host.

Shelby L. Lacy and Bill Hofheimer produced the video.
