One of Terrance Williams' streaks might end so another can continue

FRISCO, Texas -- One of the things the Dallas Cowboys love about receiver Terrance Williams is his availability.

He has not missed a game in his career -- 65 and counting. He has also not missed a practice -- too many to count.

The practice streak could come to an end Wednesday because of a sprained ankle, but there is hope he can continue his games played streak Sunday when the Cowboys take on the Denver Broncos.

Williams was spotted limping in the locker room after meetings broke up Tuesday. He was in a protective boot after the season-opening win over the New York Giants in which he caught six passes for 68 yards.

"We were giving him a hard time because he might miss one this week," receiver Cole Beasley said. "He might not be available [Wednesday] but I'm sure you'll see him back on Thursday."

Williams suffered the injury on the opening play of Sunday's game. He missed the next two series getting examined and his ankle re-taped but returned and played in 38 of 74 offensive snaps.

"He's always been a warrior for us and he doesn't get a lot of credit because he does a lot of the dirty work, but I mean he's a heckuva player," Beasley said. "It showed. Just the reason they brought the guy back.

"... He fights just as much as anybody and he hasn't missed a practice since he's been here in his whole career, which is pretty remarkable for his availability. That's one of the most important things in the NFL. Guys are always getting banged up and he's been able to fight through injuries and always come through for us."

If Williams can't play against the Broncos, Brice Butler would move into the starting lineup and rookie Noah Brown would likely be active after not dressing in the opener.
