Women’s College Basketball: Sunday’s Slate Features Rivalry Week Matchups; UConn Could Reach 100 Consecutive Wins on Big Monday

UConn continues to be the top-ranked women’s college basketball team this season, and will chase a milestone that no other team has ever reached—100 consecutive wins. The No. 1 Huskies have not lost a game since 2014, and currently have 97 consecutive wins, with matchups against Cincinnati and SMU this week. Dave O’Brien, Doris Burke, Kara Lawson and Holly Rowe will be on the call as UConn faces No. 6 South Carolina on Feb. 13 (9 p.m., ESPN2) as part of Big Monday presented by eBay, which could be a historical night for the UConn Huskies. The Big Monday studio crew — Maria Taylor, Andy Landers and Rebecca Lobo — will also be live from Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn.

Sunday’s slate will include several matchups as part of Rivalry Week presented by Wendy’s, including Tulane at No. 22 USF, Dayton at George Washington, No. 3 Maryland at Michigan State and Texas A&M at No. 24 Tennessee.

WNBA Washington Mystics head coach Mike Thibault will serve as a guest analyst for the Dayton/George Washington matchup, which tips off at noon on ESPNU. Former UConn and WNBA star Sue Bird will also serve as a guest analyst, and will be on the call for the Tulane/USF game (noon, ESPN2).

  • Charlie Creme Bracketology and column
  • With Morgan Tuck, Breanna Stewart and Moriah Jefferson gone, the Huskies weren’t the overwhelming favorites to win a championship. But here they are, riding an NCAA-record win streak. Players like Katie Lou Samuelson and Napheesa Collier have stepped up statistically, but Kia Nurse – a three-year starter – has helped fill the leadership void. (Katie Barnes)

Anna Negron

It was always a dream of mine to work at ESPN, and here I am! I joined the College Sports PR team in March 2016. Hailing from the great Garden State, I graduated from Seton Hall University (Go Pirates!) with a degree in sport management, where I not only sang the National Anthem at games, but was also a member of the Seton Hall Sapphires Dance Team and a student reporter for Pirate Sports Network. Before joining ESPN, I served as a Public Relations Associate for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
