EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Chandler Catanzaro missed two field-goal attempts Sunday in the rain, and he felt awful after the New York Jets' 25-20 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

"There's no excuse," he said.

The currently unemployed Ross Martin, who lost out to Catanzaro in a training-camp battle, posted a video on Sunday night that shows him drilling three straight field goals from 50 yards in the rain at a park in nearby Manhattan.

Later, in an email to ESPN, Martin said he wasn't trolling Catanzaro.

"There was absolutely no malintent towards any team or player meant from my video," Martin said. "I've been making an effort to post kicking videos on Sundays -- you can reference the nearly identical video that I posted last week -- and it happened to be raining all day (Sunday). My video has no underlying meaning outside of showcasing my ability to kick well in adverse conditions."

Martin posted that same sentiment in a follow-up tweet.

Earlier, it seemed as if he might be throwing shade on Catanzaro, who missed from 46 and 48 yards. He also had makes from 43 and 46.

Catanzaro and Martin waged a spirited battle in the summer. The Jets surprised many by picking Catanzaro, but they felt he was much stronger than Martin on kickoffs.
