FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the 26th time in his career. The NFL chose to honor Brady after he went 28-of-40 for 406 yards in Sunday's 33-13 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

Brady added two rushes for 14 yards, with his deliberate first-down signal after a 4-yard rush in the third quarter producing an unforgettable image.

It was Brady's first game since returning from serving a four-game Deflategate-related suspension to open the season.

"It’s been a fun week to get ready to play and be back doing what I love to do,” Brady said Sunday.

Brady trails only Peyton Manning (27) for most NFL player of the week honors in NFL history. The 400-yard passing performance was the eighth of his career. He has 72 career 300-yard games, which is third in NFL history behind Drew Brees (98) and Manning (93).

In 2015, Brady was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for September and AFC Offensive Player of the Week following a 36-7 win over the Miami Dolphins in which he was 26 of 38 for 356 yards, 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.

The Patriots (4-1) have now had four players recognized with these types of awards this season. The others: kicker Stephen Gostkowski (AFC special teams, Week 1), punter Ryan Allen (AFC special teams, Week 3) and running back LeGarrette Blount (AFC Offensive Player of the Month).
