Big Ten Week 4 bowl projections: Wisconsin rises again

Fun question: If the season ended today, who from the Big Ten would make the College Football Playoff?

Ohio State has been the most physically impressive and imposing team. Michigan has won every game by double digits. Wisconsin has two victories over teams that were ranked in the top 10 at the time -- and both wins came away from home.

But -- and thank goodness for this -- the season does not end today. We have a ton of football left, and for the bowl projections, we have to actually, you know, project stuff. As excellent as Wisconsin has been, the Badgers probably still are going to lose a game or two soon because of their tough schedule. This week's game at Michigan looms as a huge showdown. The winner will have the inside track to at least a Rose Bowl bid, if not the playoff ... in next week's projections, that is.

For this week, we're rewarding the Badgers with the Rose Bowl slot, while recognizing that a lot can change on Saturday. Michigan State and Iowa drop down. Indiana, after a loss to Wake Forest at home, drops out.

The projections:

College Football Playoff: Ohio State

Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual: Wisconsin

Capital One Orange Bowl: Michigan

Outback Bowl: Nebraska

Holiday Bowl: Michigan State

Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl: Iowa

New Era Pinstripe Bowl: Minnesota

Foster Farms Bowl: Penn State

Quick Lane Bowl: Maryland

Heart of Dallas Bowl: Not filled
