Dortmund's Ousmane Dembele tracked by Real Madrid - source

Real Madrid are monitoring Borussia Dortmund teenager Ousmane Dembele, a source has told ESPN FC.

Dembele, 19, signed for Dortmund from Rennes this summer for a fee in the region of €15 million on a five-year deal after being linked with a number of top European sides.

This week, the France winger said in Mundo Deportivo that he would be tempted by a move to Barcelona in the future.

He said: "Not now, because I want to grow and be a protagonist every Sunday. But one day I will play for Barcelona."

However, Barcelona could face competition from their La Liga rivals Real Madrid, who have made an enquiry regarding Dembele although they have not made a formal offer.

Dembele has scored one Bundesliga goal and assisted two in six appearances this season.

In September, Real, along with rivals Atletico Madrid, lost their appeals to FIFA against one-year transfer bans for breaking rules protecting underage players.

The Madrid clubs are blocked from registering new players in the next two transfer windows -- winter and summer in 2017.

If Real do not manage to get their appeal to the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) overturned they will have to wait until January 2018 before they can register new players.

Barcelona were hit with a similar transfer ban but signed Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal despite being unable to register them. Turan and Vidal waited six months before being able to make their debuts.

Real could attempt to do something similar with Dembele if they were to make a move for him over the summer transfer window and they would be able to loan him out for six-months to another club until January 2018.
