Calvin Johnson crushes Viennese Waltz, wins 'Dancing With the Stars' immunity

Calvin Johnson is safe for another week on "Dancing with the Stars" after crushing a Viennese Waltz on national television.

Wearing a gold jacket -- likely not the last gold jacket he'll end up wearing -- with black lapels, black pants and black shoes, Johnson and his partner, Lindsay Arnold, danced to "Woman's World," by BJ the Chicago Kid.

"This is a little bit something different for me," Johnson said in his pre-recorded piece. "I've got to get used to being delicate if I'm eyeing down that Mirror Ball."

He and Arnold received eights from every judge for a score of 32. That bested the pair they were dueling Monday night, Terra Jole and Sasha Farber, who scored a 30, on "Face-off Week."

Johnson is clearly getting better at this, too. He appeared to be more fluid than he has in his first two weeks as he had to move with some more grace and passion during the waltz. He handled it quite well. And he really seemed to enjoy it.

He flashed his trademark smile at the end of the dance, high-fiving Arnold. It was clear he knew he rocked it -- even sliding on the floor at one point during the dance. Considering his Lions teammates said he couldn't dance, the improvement he's been making week to week is impressive.

The funniest moment of the pre-recorded piece setting up the dance came when Arnold said to treat her head like he was "holding a delicate egg." Then later, Arnold said "it's just like holding a little football, you know? Gracefully grab it."

Johnson shook his head at that and said "not really." If you watched Johnson play in the NFL, you know he grabbed balls out of the air often, typically with a defender on him. To do so, he had to squeeze it hard and violently. He picked it up, as he's advancing to another week of Dancing competition.

"Dancing with the Stars" was shortened to an hour Monday night due to the Presidential debate, meaning there was no time for judge's individual comments.

If you want to catch up, here are reviews of Johnson's first and second performances.
