Antonio Brown tweets praise for Steelers, says injury is 'minor setback'

NFL, Pittsburgh Steelers

PITTSBURGH -- All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown calls his calf injury a "minor setback" on his way back to helping the Pittsburgh Steelers, possibly for the playoff run.

Brown tweeted a statement Monday, saying that "even in adversity I can't help but feel blessed."

Brown has a partially torn left calf, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The star receiver is eyeing a return for the playoffs, which could feature a bye week for Pittsburgh, the source told Schefter.

Brown suffered the injury with 13 minutes, 9 seconds left in the second quarter of Sunday's 27-24 loss to the New England Patriots. He left the field and went to the hospital after getting tangled up with a Patriots defensive back on a pass into the end zone.

The durable Brown hasn't missed a game because of injury since 2012.

Brown garnered MVP consideration after catching 99 passes for 1,509 yards and 9 touchdowns in the first 13 games of the season. Brown added 2 catches for 24 yards in 17 minutes of work Sunday to ensure a fifth straight 100-catch season, an NFL record.
