Florida officials are scheduled to meet with UCF coach Scott Frost's representatives in Orlando, Florida, this weekend, as the Gators are preparing to move on in case former Oregon coach Chip Kelly chooses the UCLA job, sources told ESPN's Mark Schlabach and Edward Aschoff.
Sources said Kelly has not informed the Gators of a decision, but Florida officials feel their chances of landing the current ESPN analyst have diminished since meeting with him at his home in New Hampshire on Sunday.
Kelly met with UCLA officials in Los Angeles on Tuesday and is expected to make a decision between Florida and UCLA in the coming days.
Frost said after UCF wrapped up its undefeated regular season with a 49-42 thriller over South Florida on Friday that "I'm my representative, and I'm going to be with my wife and baby this weekend."
He also is expected to be a candidate at Nebraska, his alma mater, if the Cornhuskers decide to fire Mike Riley.
Frost said he'll likely institute a social media blackout as talk about his coaching future escalates.
"Probably in the next 24 hours, I'll get rid of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram," he said.
Frost is in his second season at UCF, ranked No. 15 in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings, and addressed the potential he sees in the Knights.
"The leadership of this university is unbelievable. The students have been supportive. This community is unbelievable," he said. "This place is really special, and I saw a glimpse tonight of what it can be, and I go back to these players and these coaches. We started at the bottom two years ago, and I knew we could be good. I didn't think it would happen this fast. An undefeated season doesn't happen very often. I'm thrilled for the guys that they got to experience it."
Wide receiver Otis Anderson said Frost has told the team not to worry about any rumors and to focus on the task at hand.
"I don't really like to talk about him maybe leaving because we're having a great season right now and I don't want any bad to come out of this," Anderson said.
Other candidates who might be considered for Florida's opening include Mississippi State's Dan Mullen, West Virginia's Dana Holgorsen, Washington State's Mike Leach and Oregon's Willie Taggart.
