GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It has been more than three years since Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre shared the stage at the NFL Honors ceremony in February 2013, and Rodgers is glad that the moment between the two iconic Green Bay Packers quarterbacks was the catalyst for Favre's reconciliation with the franchise.

He's also glad that he and the Packers will be in Canton, Ohio, next month for Favre’s induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which is the night before the Packers and Indianapolis Colts face off in the annual Hall of Fame Game. (Although Rodgers might not even play in the actual game, given the Packers' five preseason games this summer.)

Appearing on Bill Simmons' "Any Given Wednesday" show on HBO, Rodgers told Simmons that he and Favre talk, text or email “a few” times each year and that they’ve done that more often since their intentionally awkward televised moment together.

“We’ve been in touch more really since the handshake on stage, where things kind of got back to where they should have been,” said Rodgers, who took over as the Packers' starter in 2008, following an ugly showdown between an unretiring Favre and the franchise before Favre was traded to the New York Jets. “It was fun to see him [on Thanksgiving] when he got his number retired. It’ll be good to be playing in the Hall of Fame game in a few weeks.

“Everything has turned out the way it should be as far as the relationship getting mended between [the organization] and him and he’s a fun guy to be around. He looks incredible too. He’s been running like half-marathons.”

Rodgers joked that he wouldn’t be surprised to see the fit, 46-year-old Favre, who has been competing in triathlons and took part last month in the annual Trek 100 bike ride in Waterloo, Wisconsin, to support Rodgers’ favorite charity (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer), make an NFL comeback.

“I think he’s always a dark horse for a comeback,” Rodgers said. “Jeff George, is he available too?”
