TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins has drawn praise throughout training camp, but he wasn’t happy with his preseason debut against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Seferian-Jenkins might be his own biggest critic.

“I didn’t play well enough,’’ Seferian-Jenkins said. “As you could see, I had two holding calls, I didn’t block well enough, and I didn’t run my routes well enough. I didn’t get a satisfactory grade to my liking.’’

Seferian-Jenkins said his biggest problem against the Jaguars was that he forgot about the little things he had been doing well in practice.

“When you’re in a game and things are going, you think about your assignment and sometimes you forget about your technique,’’ Seferian-Jenkins said. “I think that’s what got me held up in the first preseason game. I was so worried about doing my assignment, making sure I won my rep that I forgot about the small techniques that would help me win my rep and help me dominate that rep and not get a holding call or not get open enough.’’

But the coaching staff apparently wasn’t as critical of Seferian-Jenkins. He continued to get work with the first team in Monday’s practice.

“I appreciate them giving me reps, but I’ve got to do better with my reps,’’ Seferian-Jenkins said. “They’re giving me opportunities and I’ve got to keep getting better.’’
