Jack Burnham's third hundred of the competition helped England Under-19s ease to a resounding 203-run win against Namibia Under-19s in their fifth-place playoff game in Fatullah. Namibia chose to field after hazy conditions delayed the start and reduced the game to a 48-overs-a-side contest. England lost in-form Dan Lawrence in the 6th over for 18.
However, Tom Moores (85), who replaced Max Holden in the starting line-up, and Burnham (109) put on 170 for the second wicket to lift England into the ascendancy. Wickets fell regularly thereafter but brisk cameos from Sam Curran (22 off 19) and captain Brad Taylor(23 off 11) helped post a total of 286 for 8. Left-arm quick Fritz Coetzee picked three wickets but conceded 72.
England's bowlers left Namibia tottering early in the chase and were soon reduced to 32 for 5 in the 11th over. Lohan Louwrens offered brief resistance with a patient 24 but Namibia were bundled out for 83 in the 26th over. Legspinner Mason Crane returned figures of 3 for 3 from 3.2 overs.
Ireland Under-19s won their second consecutive match in the tournament, after thrashing Scotland Under-19s by 95 runs in the 13th place playoff match in Cox's Bazar. Wicketkeeper Lorcan Tucker and William McClintock produced contrasting fifties to propel Ireland to 235 for 7 after a slow start.
After being restricted to 118 for 4 after 34 overs, Tucker (59 off 72) and McClintock (69 off 45) added 107 to provide the required impetus to the end of the innings. Mohammad Ghaffar produced figures of 3 for 49.
The top six Scotland batsmen got to double figures in the chase, but not one of them could reach 20 as the innings fell away quickly. None of the last five could even reach 10. The frequent fall of wickets meant Scotland were bowled out for 140 after 44 overs. Harry Tector and Fiachra Tucker did the damage with four and three wickets respectively.
