Scott Mitchell joins 'The Biggest Loser'

ALLEN PARK, Mich. – Scott Mitchell once started 57 games at quarterback for the Detroit Lions. Now, he’s trying to regain control of what his body looks like.

Mitchell, who was listed at 240 pounds when he was in the NFL, now weighs 366 pounds and in order to try and lose weight, he has joined the cast of the latest season of The Biggest Loser on NBC.

According to the show’s website, the 46-year-old Mitchell now suffers from sleep apnea and a poor diet. It also lists his current career as a bill collector. He had been the head coach at his high school, Springville (Utah) High, but he resigned following the 2011 season.

In his career with the Lions, Mitchell was 27-30 and completed 1049 of 1850 passes for 12,647 yards, 79 touchdowns and 57 interceptions. He also appeared in two playoff games with Detroit.

He isn’t the only Lions player on the show as former offensive lineman Damien Woody is also trying to drop weight. The show lists Woody, who is also an ESPN analyst, at 388 pounds.

Woody played for the Lions from 2004 to 2007.

Current and former Lions have been popping up on reality TV a lot, although most of the rest of it has been with Ndamukong Suh, who was on the show "American Muscle," earlier this summer.
