          Oklahoma State is getting some much-needed reinforcement for its defensive backfield.

          Michigan safety Josh Furman is transferring to Oklahoma State for his final college season, a source confirmed to ESPN.com.

          While the school did not make a formal announcement, Furman took to Twitter to announce his plans to transfer.

          Furman started three games for the Wolverines defense last season, and appeared in 32 games over his career.

          He plans to graduate in May, which would allow him to be eligible for the 2014 season. Furman should have a chance to play right away, too. The Cowboys graduated both starting safeties from last season in Daytawion Lowe and Shamiel Gary.

          Oklahoma State's secondary has gotten a boost from a graduate transfer before. Last year, Kansas cornerback Tyler Patmon joined the Cowboys for his final season, and started five games.

          Oklahoma State opens Aug. 30 against defending national champion Florida State in the Cowboys Classic at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
