Lions release depth chart for Browns

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions released their unofficial depth chart for the preseason opener against Cleveland and other than a quickly-corrected mistake that had David Akers still on the roster at kicker, here it is.

The Lions stressed that this depth chart is unofficial since it is "compiled" by the team's media relations department. From the looks of it -- compared to what I've watched in practice -- it is very, very unofficial:

THOUGHTS:

This is obviously very, very unofficial -- both from what it says at the top of the depth chart and also from what is actually on it. So take what you see here as a very, very loose guide for what you might see on Saturday night against Cleveland.

Among the biggest differences that I can tell: Eric Ebron is not going to be behind many tight ends at all and should see a ton of snaps on Saturday night. That seems to be more of a rookie paying their dues thing. Same with Ashlee Palmer over Kyle Van Noy at SAM linebacker, although there has been some rep-splitting there. Tahir Whitehead has repped at both middle linebacker and outside linebacker -- and would be the No. 2 option at both the middle and WILL spots more than likely at this point. If Ansah does not start, don't be surprised if Devin Taylor starts over Darryl Tapp. While Nate Freese is listed as the starting kicker, Giorgio Tavecchio has been pushing him hard.
