The Detroit Lions have re-signed veteran center Dominic Raiola to a one-year contract, according to his agent, Kenny Zuckerman.
Raiola has been with the Lions his entire career after being drafted by the team in the second round in 2001. He has played in 205 games, passing the 200-game mark in 2013.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but a league source says Raiola will receive a raise from last season. He made $1 million last season in base salary but counted against the cap at $3,012,500.
The 35-year-old experienced a renaissance in his career this past season. He graded out as the second-best center in the league by Pro Football Focus, and the website did not charge him with a sack allowed all season.
He also helped mentor rookie Larry Warford, who was one of the best guards in the league last season.
"He loves the team and the city," Zuckerman told ESPN.com. "Most importantly, he is on a mission to get them to the postseason this season."
Raiola has been to the playoffs only once in his career.
