QB Josh McCown schedules Houston visit

Plenty of questions remain about how the Houston Texans will address the quarterback position, but one thing we've known since the day Bill O'Brien was hired is that they will add a veteran whether they draft a rookie or not.

To that end, Josh McCown makes a lot of sense.

According to a source, McCown has a visit scheduled with Houston after he visits the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He's planning to visit the New York Jets after leaving Houston. Of course, this is all assuming that he leaves Tampa without a deal, and the Jets visit is contingent on his leaving Houston without one.

McCown, a Texas native, spent the past three seasons in Chicago. He started five games for the Bears last season and played in eight. McCown went 3-2 as a starter and had a 109 passer rating overall last season.

The Texans haven't released Matt Schaub yet, and whether they do could be contingent on their ability to land a veteran with whom they feel comfortable. Of course, Schaub's $14.5 million cap figure isn't something a team can afford to carry if he's to be a backup quarterback.
