After two weeks of solid data (and a few surprises), seems like it’s time to make a few flips in this week’s Big 12 bowl projections.

For starters: We’re upgrading Baylor to College Football Playoff status not because of how the Bears fared against Lamar, but because TCU suffered some significant losses on defense last week in Sammy Douglas, James McFarland and Mike Freeze. The absence of that trio is a big deal, and we’ll see how Gary Patterson gets their replacements coached up in time for Big 12 play.

Oklahoma trades places with Oklahoma State on the virtue of its double-overtime victory at Tennessee. That road triumph will certainly be a confidence-booster for these Sooners, and the remarkable comeback to pull that off will earn Bob Stoops’ squad a lot more respect. That was a special win.

The other flip, and this one might be temporary: Texas Tech and Kansas State. That swap is not a big deal since it’s basically a toss-up -- both are looking like potential six-win teams thus far -- but it’s hard not to be impressed by what Texas Tech is doing on offense, and K-State losing Jesse Ertz is a setback. The Red Raiders have a chance to make a major statement at Arkansas next week, and we know now these Razorbacks are definitely beatable.
