Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice returned from a hip injury he suffered in Week 2 and played Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

Rice told people all week he would play, and one source said earlier Sunday morning he was "90 percent" sure the running back would play.

Rice, listed as questionable on Friday's injury report, sustained a hip flexor strain Sept. 15, and missed his first game in five years last Sunday. He was limited throughout the week in practice.

On the play in which Rice was injured, he fell to the ground without being hit. Rice said he felt something was wrong on the run and dropped to the turf so he wouldn't get hit.

"If I would have kept going, fingers crossed, Lord knows what the deal would have been," Rice said Friday. "Let me just say the fall was a protective measure."
